Purple Artichoke of Chioggia: The best variety to eat raw. The Purple of Chioggia is presented in the form of lengthened and pointed buds of dark purple color, and all leaves of the thistlelike flowerhead is edible, very tender, crunchy with a light floral flavor. The artichoke plant got on average a lifespan from 4 to 5 years. It is enough to replant them in the 3rd year in an another place of your garden in order to collect every season.
