Purple Artichoke of Chioggia: The best variety to eat raw. The Purple of Chioggia is presented in the form of lengthened and pointed buds of dark purple color, and all leaves of the thistlelike flowerhead is edible, very tender, crunchy with a light floral flavor. The artichoke plant got on average a lifespan from 4 to 5 years. It is enough to replant them in the 3rd year in an another place of your garden in order to collect every season.

Seed sowing: From February to May
Harvest Artichokes: From November to June of the following year.
Height: 80 cm to 1,20 m
Exposure: Sunny

Sowing instructions: Sow Artichoke seeds in pots or under shelters from February until the end of  frosts by putting 3 seeds by cups, transplant 2 months later, or sow directly in place while putting 3 seeds per hole and transplant 2 months later. The artichoke requires a deep and well smoked soil.

Sowing distance: 90 x 90 cm
Minimum seed sowing temperature: 21 to 24°C
Seed germination: 15-20 days in open ground and 5-15 days under heated shelter
Nutritional value: 40 Kcal to the 100 gr.

Net weight of seeds: 3 gr. +/- 60 seeds
